https://doi.org/10.62042/jtp.v7i2.124Kisah Rehabeam dalam 2 Tawarikh 12:1 menggambarkan kebangkitan dan kejatuhan seorang raja yang masa pemerintahannya menandai momen penting dalam sejarah Israel. Ketika kekuasaannya menjadi mapan, Rehabeam memutuskan untuk meninggalkan hukum Tuhan. Pengabaian prinsip-prinsip rohani ini membawa konsekuensi bagi dirinya sendiri dan bangsa Yehuda. Dalam penelusuran literatur, maka riset mengenai Rehabeam hanya terfokus kepada studi tematis dan sejarah sehingga kurang menyasar secara spesifik kegagalan kepemimpinananya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti secara spesifik nuansa dosa Rehabeam dan implikasinya terhadap kepemimpinan, menyoroti tema-tema kesombongan, kompromi moral, dan pentingnya untuk tetap setia pada tuntunan Ilahi. Berdasarkan metode hermeneutik studi eksegesis, maka penelitian menemukan ada 5 alasan kejatuhan Rehabeam, yakni: Pertama, kesombongan dan keangkuhan Rehabeam. Kedua, Rehabeam tidak mengindahkan nasihat para penatua yang berpengalaman dan bijaksana. Ketiga, Rehabeam mengabaikan Hukum Tuhan. Keempat, Rehabeam telah salah dalam membuat pilihan hidup, dan kelima, Rehabeam mengabaikan kesetiaan kepada Tuhan. Hasil riset ini menggarisbawahi relevansi dari kisah Rehabeam sebagai kisah peringatan bagi para pemimpin di segala zaman untuk waspada dan tidak lupa diri ketika berada dalam keberhasilan dan kesuksesan; jika tidak, maka ada konsekuensi hukuman Allah karena menyimpang dari jalan kebenaran.
